I'm sure you've heard that being in nature is good for you, but with our increasingly busy lives you may think you don't have the time...
Well, guess what!? If you can spend just 15 minutes outdoors a day, the health benefits are astounding! Being in green spaces drastically reduces anxiety, boosts our self-esteem, lifts our mood and enhances our immune system.
You don't have to have a big yard or park near by, you can reap the benefits nature has to offer by simply sitting on a patio or taking a stroll around your work building on a quick break. Try drinking your morning coffee outside or eating your lunch at a picnic table outdoors. Maybe on your drive home you pass by a green space that you could stop to walk around. Perhaps you have a pet that you let outside, could you start sitting with them outdoors or taking them for a stroll around where you live? Getting your daily nature dose can be so much simpler than we realize.
The point is, you don't have to invest in fancy work-out gear, have hours to hike a mountain or live on acres of land to connect to environment around you. Just taking a few deep breaths around plants, allowing yourself a few quiet moments to be mindful to what surrounds you, and to be present with the smaller creatures like birds and insects will your calm your nervous system and return a little vitality to your life. Give it a try and see how you feel.
